Becton, Dickinson reverts to older stopper in general-use syringes

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BDX +0.4%) has informed the FDA that it no longer uses the rubber stopper material in its general-use syringes that was associated with a loss of drug potency. Instead, it has gone back to the stopper used previously.

The FDA issued an alert in 2015 not to administer compounded drugs or repackaged drugs stored in certain sizes of BD syringes based on reports that the interaction with the rubber stopper resulted in the loss of potency if not used immediately.
